I also took the 75-300mm lens for a walk, it's been a while since I did any non-people shots.
A token animal photo ... P the sheep.
Getting quite dark by now, this photo was taken with ISO1600. I did test with slower exposures, but didn't have my tripod with me. This was 1/100 sec.

I got a new camera. Well an old camera.

I had to return the Canon 400D, so I went in search of my own camera.

I ended up with a second hand Canon 350D, with the twin kit lens (wide angle 18-55 and telephoto 75-300).

Of course I had to take some more photos in the garden for comparison.

There's so much more to it.

Entering the Photo5 competition raised my awareness that there was more to photography than just clicking a button. And I began trying to find out more.

I joined a peer-moderated group to learn more about photography. We followed the Morguefile course, completing regular assignments and giving eachother feedback on our photos.

To start with, I was still using my Olympus "point and shoot" camera. To be honest, before now I wasn't aware that there was more to it. I discovered the world of DSLR cameras, and borrowed a Canon 400D.

These are leaves of an Inga tree, using the Canon 400D.


This is a close-up of the same image, I loved being able to get so much detail.


I decided to try a similar photo using the Olympus point-and shoot... it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. However there is a lot less control over what you will get. Check out that ant!
